    Country Boy

When the chips are down and falling
    Please don't hesitate to calling
I'll be there to lend an ear
And tell you I love you...

Love's so precious rare and vital
Makes me give this short recital
Gotta say the words to you
    Baby I love you...

So smile that smile that makes me shudder
    Let your hair fall free
Still the anger makes me shiver
And find your love for me
And I'll give you all my love...

In the sweetness of this feeling
    Song becomes the most revealing
Way for me to say to you
    Baby I love you...

I'll give my best to help you dear
There's really nothing here to fear
Just a country boy in love
    With you and only you...

So smile that smile that makes me shudder
    Let your hair fall free
Still the anger makes me shiver
And find your love for me
And I'll give you all my love...

    Deep Blue

Captain said the boat would go down
I tried to see what was going on
The midmast leaned over forty degrees
    The mainsail was already gone...

Ratskin randy was cool like a fool
Politely refused all prayers and candy
Mother sea washed him into her arms
I heard one scream from ratskin randy...

I saw the captain in dress uniform
Performing a wedding singing and sighing
I've always cried at weddings and funerals
I guess that I was already crying..

The eye of the sea a deep blue
The sea of the eye is a deep blue
The deep of the eye is a sea blue...
Sea blue eye blue deep blue...

When the midmast fell it cut the deck
Your deal the captain told me
I ran to the hold for my notebook and guns
And something that floats that would hold me...

Captain said the boat would go down...

A lifeboat fell and it knocked me down
    The anchor broke astray
The figurehead slid into the sea
    And all were cast away..

The eye of the sea a deep blue
The sea of the eye is a deep blue
The deep of the eye is a sea blue
Sea blue eye blue deep blue...

    Power Over Me

She found me by the highway with the smoke in my eyes
The snow was as white as the jeans she wore
I knew she was a dancer like I know a swan flies
She told me you're a rambler cause I've known you before...

She smiled and I thought I saw something flash
But the image grew faint and I couldn't grab on
I could tell it was real but felt something clash
Lost all direction and the knowledge was gone...

I muttered confused till she looked in my eyes
She told me I can show you if you'd like to see
For my power over you is like the moon that will rise
But like the storm that obscures it
    Is your power over me...

I felt our minds touch and she opened my sight
I saw the snow stop for the world stopped turning
My mind raced away from the cold of the night
I could feel the chill of all those memories burn..

    Power over me...

I saw her in athens and I saw her in rome
And I knew without asking it was me by her side
Like a portrait I saw her loving me and her home
But the pictures showed me ready to ride...

I saw her on a dock in a portuguese town
And I saw her in a jungle with a dancer's grace
Saw her ask maybe would you stick around
Saw myself answer turned from her face...

I broke off the contact and shook out my head
She looked at me sadly and said I don't know your name
I looked down the highway where the world awaits
She turned away slowly toward the way she came...

    Your power over me...

    Ways of Love

She said play it simple sing it sweet put it to a danceable beat
I said I'm in limbo I'm in love tell me what you're thinking of
She said make me coffee hold me tight I'll show you how to make it right
I said I'm cautious tell me more but only after I lock the door...

She said hold me close smell the rose touch me here there's nothing to fear
I said it's magic so ecstatic whisper nonsense in my ear
And she said make love to me like it's the last time
Sing your song with rhythm and rhyme
You're here to practice the noble art
Born of fires burning in your heart...

She said count the sheep or count your blessings a woman's charms are heaven sent
I said I'm confused must I choose I'm really weary of singing the blues
She said we're alone now cut the phone drop the blinds and crawl inside
I said I'm humbled though I stumble I'm glad you asked me to take the ride

And she said make love like you're going off to war
Roll me hard on the carpeted floor
We're here for pleasure the words be damned
If you must know just where I stand...

She said I'm restless I'll confess your words don't make much sense to me
I said I'm foolish this is bliss cut my tongue out for all eternity
And she said you're here to learn the ways of love
The wild tumble and the gentle touch
You're here to practice the noble art
Born of fires burning in your heart...

    Saw It At The Circus

Went to the traveling circus show sally anne was in my arms
Wandered down by the river flats took a dip in a catfish farm
Vowed to her my faithfulness bathed her with sweet tenderness
Walked on air to the carnival took a ride in a whirly bird...

Rode the tilt a whirl a while banged around in a bumper car
Watched a cat girl earn her pay wished upon a shooting star
Melted cotton candy balls viewed a man who came from mars
Finally she held me close whispered these sweet words of love...

Life is but a joke my dear without you by my side
Knew it early on you know saw it in your eyes...

Rambled off to her mama's place had a bowl of black eyed peas
Drank some homemade lemonade sat out under the willow tree
Said good bye and ambled out hugged and kissed and bid farewell
Drivin home the sky fell down what it was I could not tell...

Light appeared and lit the street the car came to a stop
I stood in awe beside the road and watched a spaceship drop
There I saw behind blue glass my sweet sweet sally anne
Climbed aboard and held her close then I saw the man...

Don't you think he looks just like the one we saw at the circus...

They offered us a ride through space but sally anne declined
She told them bout her dear old mom and how she'd lose her mind
Our lives were never quite the same though we stayed behind
Waved them off in a puff of smoke tears in all our eyes...

Realize we couldn't tell never told a soul the tale
But deep inside we knew it well me and my sweet sally anne
Every year the circus comes go to see the martian man
Tells us he's researching earth loves to live the carney life...
